If you love designer fashion, but are too scared to go in search of it because of the price tag, then Camberwell has a secret to share. Up the hill along Burke Road , away from the main buzz of Style Junction retail is The Frock Exchange. In its past days this unassuming shop was a recycle boutique, but not any more!
Maryanne, who owns The Frock Exchange is passionate about helping women of all sizes to look fabulous. She caters from size 6 to 24 and her shop is clearly laid out so it’s easy to see exactly what section to head to for a particular size.
Maryanne knows fashion too, and she loves designer brands. But the difference is the price tag. Maryanne has fabulous business relationships with several designer houses and receives drops of designer dresses and outfits regularly that are unavailable elsewhere in Camberwell.
Her favourite new range is ‘Cake’ a pure cotton range of dresses and tops in bright colours and patterns that are great for the warmer months ahead and for women who seek out fabric that is not synthetic. Whilst creating some looks in the store, I was also surprised to find some one offs by Karen Millen, David Meister, and Saba. Maryanne stocks Avocado, Isabella del Pedro, Privilege, Niche apparel, and Pink Ruby to name a few.
I had a lot of fun working with the garments Maryanne has in The Frock Exchange, layering to create different looks is fun and suits most women. Before you set about shopping for your next travel wardrobe or special occasion, make sure you take the time to walk a little further or catch the tram and hop off at the top of the hill and visit The Frock Exchange.
