Fashionistas are encouraged to channel military style as khaki proves to be the on-trend colour of the season.
From deep olive tones, to browns and brighter hues of green, khaki can be enjoyed in a range of shades to emulate that army chic look or safari-style glamour.
The shade has made its way into designer collections with labels such as Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren bringing back khaki.
Melbourne fashion stylist Sally Mackinnon said the colour khaki will be huge for the spring/summer season.
“Whether it’s a cargo pant, military casual jacket, structured blazer or A-Line skirt, khaki is big for spring/summer 2015,” she said.
“Khaki works well when teamed with the classic colours in your wardrobe, like white, cream, black and denim, and pastel blue, pink and apricot.”
Ms Mackinnon said khaki works beautifully with white, also a popular shade this season, or paired with gold or bronze accessories.
Several stores in Camberwell have embraced the khaki trend, with a well-selected collection of the shade available from various brands.
Witchery’s khaki utility jacket, with a patch pocket and a luxe belt, is where military meets femininity. The store has a finely selected range of khaki and white garments in this season, making it effortless to pull together an on-trend outfit.
Bring khaki into the office with Country Road’s dressy Roll Cuff Shirt. The soft silk shirt with drapey, full sleeves will look elegant tucked into fitted pants. Alternatively, go for a soft and sophisticated urban look with the Pleat Detail Pant in the shade olive.
Target also has a range of khaki garments available at affordable prices – their Soft Button Front Midi Skirt is a perfect transeasonal piece while the Yours Sincerely Drape Dress, made from soft lyocell, offers comfort and style.
