Guys, big fashion tip for spring/summer 2017: you may need to get out the vinyl – or at least glance at the covers.
Straight from the fashion shows in London and Milan, the style news for men is a step back in time.
All the biggest trends in menswear this season are referencing the ‘80s.
No, not in a seriously-am-I-going-to-have-to-get-out-my-flouro-fingerless-gloves kind of way.
This season, men’s fashion has taken all the most excellent features of the ‘80s and wrapped them up in a way that is all about comfort and style.
Here are three menswear trends to sport this season:
Stipes featured in all the spring/summer shows in Europe, and Australian designers have been quick to embrace the trend.
But this year, the fashion tip to remember is you can never have too much.
Sure, a striped tee is going to have you right on trend, but team it with striped pants and a striped jacket and your fashion credentials will go through the roof.
It doesn’t matter if they are thick stripes, thin stripes, black stripes or multi-coloured stripes. If it’s a line and it’s on your clothes, it’s in.
2. All white
It’s a fashion trend not for the faint-hearted, but hey, if the Great Gatsby can do it, so can you.
Or, to stay with the ‘80s theme, if George Michael could do it in the video for Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, so can you.
We’re talking about white on white. As in, totally white.
The white on white look is actually very easy to achieve, simply because you only need to remember one colour.
Team a white tee with white, relaxed trousers and white loafers, and if you can throw a white denim jacket into the mix, all the better.
And don’t even think about breaking it up with a coloured or neutral belt. If you need a belt, it has to be white.
3. Relaxed dressing
One of the best trends to come out of the ‘80s is the relaxed fit, and several menswear stores have nailed it this season.
Baggy pants, slouchy tees and loose shirts are all big fashion items this season.
Think comfortable, relaxed fabrics such as stretch cotton and fine linens.
If you’re still not convinced you can pull off that ‘80s look, there are still many classic styles on offer at fashion stores in Camberwell.
The only other thing you need to know is that all your spring/summer fashion needs are available now from the ever-stylish Camberwell shopping precinct.
