If the bomber jackets, huge sneakers and hoop earrings weren’t enough to convince you, the spring/summer makeup fashion trends should seal the deal.
The 80s are back, baby. That means colourful palettes, glitter, and glossy bright lips. And then more glitter.
In a nod to Netflix’s 80’s throwback series Glow, makeup this season is all about colour – and Camberwell shopping precinct is right on trend, with some of the season’s hottest shades already appearing on shelves.
Here’s how you can freshen up your face with these spring/summer 2017 makeup looks:
Just add glitter
Once strictly the domain of little girls and craft enthusiasts with a penchant for unicorns, this season glitter is huge in the world of grown-up beauty, and is hitting the stores in tubs that are more likely to have Fendi or DKNY on the lid than Barbie.
Glitter shone at the spring/summer 2017 shows, from the statement glitter stencil on the cheek at Giambattista Valli, to the more subtle sparkly lips at Fendi.
Glitter eyeshadows are perfect for spring events and Christmas parties, and sparkly nail polishes will turn your fingers into ten little disco balls.
It’s the new contouring, except more fresh and fun and way less serious. Beauty experts are calling it ‘blush draping’.
Instead of highlights and lowlights, colours are used to bring out the features of the face.
Colour is the word, and blush is the hero, with soft pastel rosy cheeks, bright intense cheeks and soft, glowing cheeks all in for spring/summer.
Make a statement with bold lips
The word on every fashionista’s lips this season is lips. Big, bold, perfectly formed lips in bright shades of red, coral, orange and pinks will be seen everywhere this spring/summer.
Co-ordinate with your blush, or don’t co-ordinate with your blush. If it’s colourful and fresh, it’s in.
